DIVA
When you hear the word "diva", many may think of a woman who is a prima donna or a singer or actress who excels in her profession. But the word ‘diva’ in Latin means something more than that. In Latin, ‘diva’ literally means goddess. The first official diva was the actress Lyda Borelli. Thanks to her, we now mostly see divas as movie stars. Through Borelli’s fascinating life, she witnessed women’s rights change. One hundred years ago today, women in the Netherlands were given the right to vote — and we’re going to celebrate it.
